Whether you’re trying to achieve an alluring look to your living room, or to bring a Zen-like atmosphere to your favorite space, Asian home decor is a great way to decorate.. It’s extremely simple to transform your home into an exotic retreat.

1) Take away any clutter. Asian spaces are clean, neat, tidy, and never “busy”. Each piece of decor should have a space in which it will not be influenced by other pieces near it.

2) You want to try to find a way to balance out the space you’re adorning. Feng Shui has become more and more popular over the past several years, and it’s a great way to balance positive and negative energies in your home.. Balance isn’t just about symmetry,but can be achieved by observing item size, shape, color, or function. Experiment to find the perfect area for your decorations.

3) Get a bonsai tree. If you enjoy plants in your home, bonsai are wonderful to have around in your Asian theme. Some bonsai may take a considerable amount of effort though, so consult with an expert first before you buy. If a live plant is too much for you, you can always get an artificial bonsai.

4) Add a small water fountain. One can often find water fountains in Feng Shui decorations. Fountains are a great way to incorporate a relaxing atmosphere, and green water is easily averted by adding a tiny amount of bleach.

5) Use red paint. Paint the space you want to turn “Asian” red. Red is classic in Asian design, and it easily accents any other items you use. If painting an entire room is either “too much color” for you, or out of your budget, consider painting just one wall as a red accent wall.

6) Get a small gong. Adding a small gong to your decor is a very classy way of integrating Asian-themed decorating. Plus, they’re fun to ring every now and then!

7) Paper Fans make wonderful wall décor. Don’t worry about not being able to find a paper fan that is the proper size for your area; they come in an array of sizes from hand-held to over 40 inches. This way, you can find the perfect size for your space without being overwhelming.

Check out a thrift store for some unexpected finds. It might take a while of hunting, but you can often find beautiful oriental figurines and decorations at wonderful prices.

9) Accent with bronze. Bronze is an absolutely wonderful addition to any Asian theme since it’s been utilized in Asian art for centuries. Remember to keep things simple.

10) Put a sake set or tea set on display. Even if you firmly dislike these Eastern beverages, many of the sake sets are divinely decorated. Just give them a dusting before guests arrive and they’ll never know!
