As anybody who plays, watches, or is in any way active in the sport of soccer knows, the World Cup final takes place very soon. Fans from all over the world will be watching as the two teams in the final, Spain and the Netherlands, battle it out to see who will be the world champion for the next four years. The people at the game will of course be very excited and along with this tournament’s trademark vuvuzela horn sound will come the clicking of thousands of pictures, some with LED screens. The LED screens on many cameras these days is in fact the same technology used with led picture lights andpicture lighting, and is therefore a well known and proven technology. In the upcoming paragraphs the two squads will be discussed and what some factors could be that would win or lose either country the final game.

This game is fascinating for people partially because of the fact that neither Spain nor the Netherlands have ever actually won the World Cup. However, the Netherlands have experienced being there, having made the final game in both 1974 and 1978 but losing to Germany (West Germany at the time) and Brazil respectively. The Dutch team has been in impressive form so far this tournament, but in the eyes of some have relied on too much luck to get to the final. For example, they had to have Brazil score an own goal to get by them in the quarterfinals, and even then it was close. But with the incredible attacking talent on the Dutch side like Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben they could certainly have enough fire power to win the game and glory for their country.

Spain, despite being a nation that boasts one of the best club team leagues in the world featuring some of the best players, have never even really come close to winning a World Cup. However, Spain has finally developed a national style of play which includes calm passing, leaving opposition with little chance to score through the entire game. In their semi final against Germany, Spain showed their patience and tactical guile by out possessing the Germans fifty seven to forty three percent. With striker and tournament top goal scorer David Villa on their side the Spanish always have a chance to put a ball in the back of the net and be victorious in any game.

When it comes down to it this final match should be a great game, with both sides possessing the offensive fireworks to make for an exciting game for neutrals. However, with Spain’s style of play being so difficult to compete with, and with questions over the defending ability of the Dutch, the Spaniards really should go back to Madrid with their first ever World Cup title.

Unquestionably the World Cup will have an incredible effect on the country that wins it. With the world economy doing so badly it would come as a big boost to the morale and economy of either one of these two fine European countries if their team comes home with a big, solid gold trophy.
